






















Angela Peoples (she/her) is a nationally recognized organizer, narrative strategist, and cultural innovator dedicated to economic justice, gender justice, and Black liberation. She is the Director of True History Narratives at the Pop Culture Collaborative. Angela is also Co-Founder and CEO of The South. She uses creative storytelling, cultural strategy and narrative power to confront systemic oppression and spark transformative change.
Angela has worked on state, local, and national political campaigns, serving as a national surrogate for Elizabeth Warren’s presidential run, and led movements like Black Womxn For and the “Count Every Vote”, Democracy Defense Coalition. Her commentary can be heard on “The N-Word” podcast and has been featured in legacy media outlets like The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Playboy Magazine.


Kevin Banatte is a creative digital strategist and co-founder of The South. He has a wealth of experiences leading innovative campaigns rooted in digital strategy and artistic branding and design. Before co-creating The South, Kevin managed legal justice campaigns for FWD.us helping to decrease the number of people in prison in Arizona, New York, Oklahoma, and Mississippi.
His first opportunity to organize was with the Dream Defenders. When they occupied the Florida State Capitol for 30 nights and 31 days, demanding a repeal of the Stand Your Ground law after the murder of Trayvon Martin. Kevin learned how to use photography, videography, and graphic design to engage black and brown communities to take political action.
